West Side Gets “Fair Share” from World-Class Fair

Eastern States Exposition (ESE) provides year-round opportunities for the development and promotion of agriculture, education, industry and family entertainment while preserving our New England heritage. It is best known for its annual fair, The Big E, which is one of the largest fairs in North America. However, the Fair is one of more than 100 events that ESE produces each year.

In accordance with its mission, ESE takes pride in giving to the community. Annually, 1% of gross operations is donated back to the town of West Springfield. This is because, as a not-for-profit, ESE cannot receive funding from federal, state, or local taxes, which sets it apart from most fairs. To give thanks to the populace that has supported our mission most faithfully, ESE partnered with West Springfield to create the "Eastern States Exposition Trust Fund."

The Big E/West Springfield Trust Fund

Eastern States recently made its annual donation to The Big E/West Springfield Trust Fund, its second largest, at $249,013. The donation represents 1% of ESE gross annual revenues for 2021. Contributions to the Fund, including this year’s gift, now total $4,745,919. Applications for The Big E/West Springfield Trust Fund grants are now being accepted through June 1.

Applications for The Big E/West Springfield Trust Fund grants are now being accepted and all West Springfield organizations and agencies that benefit education, youth, the elderly and the quality of life in Town, are encouraged to apply. The application and information can be found on the Town’s website. The deadline is June 1.
