THE BIG E BRINGS HOME MULTIPLE AGRICULTURE
AWARDS FROM INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FAIRS AND EXPOS CONVENTION IN ARIZONA
Annually, a trusted team of Eastern States Exposition (ESE) employees, headed by ESE President
and CEO
Gene Cassidy, travel to the International Association of Fairs and Expos (IAFE)
Convention and Trade Show to connect with similar organizations and promote the success of
The Big E. This year’s convention took place in Phoenix, Arizona, December 1-4. The team is
returning home with top-placing IAFE Agriculture Awards in tow.
The purpose of the IAFE Agriculture Contest is to strengthen agricultural education and
awareness programs; identify ways to be of service to exhibitors, the fair going public and the
agriculture industry; and to recognize fairs which excel in agriculture programming and
promotion. This year, The Big E’s photographers earned recognition in four out of six titles for
agricultural photography.
• 8A: Livestock (Not Equine) Photo: 2nd Place, Chris Evans of Holyoke, Mass.
• 8B: Horticulture/Crops Photo: 1st Place, Greg Sanocki of Agawam, Mass.
• 8C: Equine Photo: 1st Place, Mark Murray of Springfield, Mass.
• 8F: Miscellaneous Photo: 1st Place, Leon Nguyen of Springfield, Mass.
ESE and The Big E exist to support and encourage the success of agriculture in New England. It
takes a talented team to capture the magic of the Fair, especially in the Mallary Complex and
Farm-A-Rama. ESE is endlessly indebted to the exceptional photographers and videographers
that assist in highlighting the best of The Big E each year and extends congratulations to those
that placed at IAFE.
