ESE Introduces kayla fearn, creative events coordinator
Kayla Fearn, of West Suffield, Conn., recently joined Eastern States Exposition’s (ESE) team as Competitive Events Coordinator through the Agriculture and Education departments. In this position, she will facilitate and support all arts-based competitive events, initiatives and programming, including those through the New England Center and creative arts contests held during The Big E.
Fearn earned a bachelor’s degree in art history from the University of Hartford in 2022. While completing her undergraduate studies, she was recognized for her academic achievement on the president’s list as well as with multiple scholarships.
Before joining ESE, Fearn was an office administrator at Mainspring Management, LLC, in East Granby, Conn.; as a library services assistant at Simsbury Public Library; and as a clerk at Suffield Public Library. She also utilized her degree in art history at Hartford Art School as a collections and exhibitions intern and later as gallery and collections assistant. In her spare time, Fearn has volunteered at the European Association of Archaeologists Annual Conference.
“I’ve shown livestock at Eastern States Exposition since I was a Cloverbud in 4-H,” said Fearn. “I was in the [agriculture] programs from an early age, so I’ve been [at ESE] for a while now, in some capacity or another.” She also fondly shared that, in her youth, she entered many of the arts and agriculture competitions she will now be running.
ESE looks forward to welcoming Kayla Fearn to the team and celebrating the creativity of our exhibitors. The entry window for Creative Arts opens on May 15—visit TheBigE.com this spring for more details. Be sure to check out Fearn’s work and the incredible talent of our participants during your visit to The Big E, September 12-28.
